On May 7, 2025, Hanika Anglican Integrated Polytechnic (HAIP), located in the Shyogwe Diocese, was honored to receive a visit Ms. Schwartz Katarzyna, a guest from Germany and the project coordinator at the organization “Bread for the World” (Pain pour le Monde). The purpose of her visit was to assess the implementation of the project RWA-2022-0199, titled “Quality Improvement for Vocational and Professional Education in Shyogwe Diocese – Phase I.”
This project aims to enhance the quality of education at HAIP and its affiliated institutions: VUNGA TSS, St. Peter, and Shyogwe TSS.
The guest was welcomed by His Grace The Rt. Rev. KABAYIZA Louis Pasteur the Bishop of EAR Shyogwe Diocese, alongside Mr. BIRORI Gaetan, Principal of HAIP. The visit was also attended by:
- Staff from the Diocese
- HAIP staff
- Schools Manager’s from VUNGA TSS, St. Peter, Shyogwe TSS, and Hanika TSS
Activities Conducted During the Visit
🔹 Project Site Tour:
The visitor toured various project-supported facilities, including the Soil Laboratory, Computer Laboratory, and Mechanical Workshop. She was introduced to the equipment provided (machines) and shown how they are being used. Instructors explained the types of machines, their functions, and operational procedures. Teachers expressed their appreciation for the high-quality equipment, noting that it has strengthened their teaching capacity and better prepared students for the labor market.
🔹 Evaluation Meeting:
Following the tour, a meeting was held where Mr. NSABIMANA Leonard, the Development Officer in the Diocese, presented a progress report on the project, including achievements and upcoming activities. He emphasized the benefits of the project for students, teachers, and administrators. During the discussion, several staff members and school leaders testified to how the project had positively impacted them, particularly through training in machine operation and peer-to-peer capacity building.
Closing Remarks
His Grace Bishop Kabayiza expressed his gratitude to the guest for her significant contribution to improving the quality of education through the provision of modern learning equipment. He noted that the school continues to grow in popularity and student enrollment, highlighting the need for additional training equipment and infrastructure to keep pace with the demand.
Ms. Schwartz Katarzyna was pleased with the warm reception and the transparency shown in project implementation. She concluded by reaffirming her organization’s commitment to continued partnership with the Diocese.
As a token of appreciation and partnership, the guest was presented with a gift.
The program was officially opened and closed with prayer.
