The ceremony of consecrating and enthroning Rev. Jean Pierre Methode RUKUNDO and inaugurating Karongi Missionary Diocese was conducted today on July 26, 2020 at IPRC/ Karongi playground. Karongi Diocese, which shares the former boundaries of Kibuye Province, is located in the Western Province of Rwanda and was formerly part of Kivu Diocese.

The event was attended by 150 People seated distantly as Covid-19 continues to hinder the normal ways of doing things. Dr. Laurent MBANDA and the house of Bishops together with all participants thanked God for the birth and inauguration of the new Diocese. He further said that the motive of creating the new Diocese is to expand and strengthen the ministry as people need to be easily reached and approached in order to keep bringing the kingdom of God in people’s lives.

The Governor of Western Province gave a very warm welcome to Bishop Jean Pierre Methode and commended him for coming to join hands with the people of Western Province to build the Nation through prayers, hard work, skills and various life transforming programmes. On his side, Bishop Jean Pierre Methode said that his focus is to build Rwandan families as a place where everyone is formed and brought up. He further added that his motto is “Prayer, Study and work” (Ora, Lege et Labora in Latin).

The guest of honour, CEO of the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), thanked the Anglican Church of Rwanda for its appreciable contribution to rebuilding Rwanda and continued by extending commendation to Bishop Jean Pierre Methode for the new position and commitment to serving Rwandans and the residents of the westerner Province in particular. The CEO of RGB promised a strong collaboration with and support for the Bishop of Karongi in his responsibilities.

Bishop Jean Pierre Methode,  while ending his speech, thanked the Guest of honour, the Archbishop, the House of Bishops, the Governor of Western Province, the Mayor of Karongi District and all invitees and everyone who contributed to make this day happen and he conveyed special thanks to the Bishop Dr. Jered KALIMBA, the Dean of the Anglican Church of Rwanda and the Bishop of Shyogwe Diocese, who trained and raised in the calling as Bishop Jean Pierre Methode RUKUNDO has been a pastor of Shyogwe Diocese for nearly twenty-two years.

I am so happy to hear about the induction of Bishop Methode as Bishop of Karongi missionary diocese. I have worked with Bishop Methode on different occasions and I know his spiritual high qualities and his commitment to work. Methode is a real shepherd and I believe he is the right person for that position.
May God bless him and the Holy Spirit guide him in his new ministry for the glory of God.

The Christ church South in Amsterdam had the pleasure and the honour to have Rev Jean Pierre Methode Rukundo, now Bishop, as a member, collaborator and friend. He always impressed us with his commitment with the gospel, with strong desires to see people of Rwanda delivering their lives to Jesus, at the same time, having a better life. He, together with his wife, pursue his dream, create a project to help people and we witnessed God blessings upon him. I am so thrilled with his new role in this diocese! I am confident that he will continue to be a blessing to many, now that his reaching has broadened. Congratulations!
