Bishop of Shyogwe with pastors

Today, on the 2nd of January 2022, the Right Rev Dr. KALIMBA Jered, the Bishop of Shyogwe Diocese, carried out an official visit to Nyarugenge Archdeaconry for three good reasons: He Consecrated the renovated church building, he bade farewell to the retiring pastor and he installed a new Archdeacon.

This ceremony was held at Nyarugenge Parish; the headquarters of the Archdeaconry. Nyarugenge Archdeaconry covers 8 Parishes and is extended into two administrative districts, namely: Ruhango and Kamonyi Districts. Many parishioners came from different parts to join this colourful ceremony.

Nyarugenge Parish is located in Kinazi sector of Ruhango District and has got 5 chapels, 27 Home cell groups and 1500 parishioners. The Bishop expressed a huge thank you to the parishioners for their contributions and hard work to renovate the church building which was destroyed by strong winds and storms two years ago and he gave the name of “Saint Joseph Nyarugenge” to this Parish. The consecration of the parish was characterised by different prayers and thanksgiving. The Executive Secretary of Kinazi Sector, Mr. Pascal, thanked the Anglican Church Shyogwe Diocese for a good collaboration and partnership with the local government authority in developing the citizens.

The Bishop and all congregants bade a farewell to the retiring pastor, Rev. Munyakazi Augustin with much love which was expressed by lots of gifts presented to him. The Bishop thanked the retiring pastor for his great work to the Diocese that he served for over 25 years.  Rev. Augustin, in return, thanked the Bishop for his amazing companionship, support and visionary leadership.

Venerable Josias NDAHAYO was installed as the new Archdeacon of Nyarugenge Archdeaconry and Saint Joseph Narugenge Parish priest.  He was warmly welcomed by the parishioners of Nyarugenge who showed great love for him. They committed themselves to working with him to further develop the parish and Archdeaconry entrusted to him.
