The Archbishop Rwaje Onesphore and the Rt Rev Assiel Musabyimana

Today, Saturday, January 13, 2018, Rev Assiel Musabyimana was consecrated as the next Bishop of Kigeme Diocese. The ceremony took place at Nyagisenyi Stadium (Nyamagabe District) and was attended by clergy from the Anglican Church of Rwanda, Protestant Council of Rwanda and government officials. The ceremony was marked by the presence of the Rwanda Anglican Archbishop, Onesphore RWAJE, the Chief Executive Officer of Rwanda Governance Board, Prof SHAYAKA Anastase and other high personalities.

In his speech, the RGB C.E.O, Prof Anastase acknowledged the achievements of the Rt. Rev Mvunabandi Augustin and described him as a great man who greatly contributed to the Development of Kigeme Diocese and the Southern province.

The House of Bishops elected Rev. Assiel Musabyimana 48, on December 12, 2017. With the new Bishop will oversee Kigeme Diocese that has over 79,777 Christians zoned in 58 parishes. Before his new assignment, Musabyimana was serving as senior pastor of Abera Bose parish in Gasaka, Nyamagabe town. He replaces the Rt. Rev Bishop Augustin Mvunabandi who has been serving the church since 2000.

Born in Kaduha sector in Nyamagabe district, Musabyimana is married and a father of three children -two daughters, and one son and has been ministering as a pastor for the last 18 years. He was ordained as Pastor in 1998 and studied Theology and Development from Uganda.
